My Most Valuable Resource

This is my most valuable resource. What’s yours?

There was a time when my phone, computer and other people controlled my life. I gazed at my phone quite often. I’m not sure why. What was I expecting to see? Another mail? Pretending to be busy? Imitating others around me? We are all influenced by the environment we are in and I was no exception.

The phone controlled me and not vice versa. I was always at a desk, gazing deeply into a computer screen like I expected it to start spouting some profound life truth that would somehow liberate me from the desperately mundane situation I found myself in. The void inside me grew bigger even as I accumulated more. What was I missing?

Fast forward to Now and I’m a very different person. This is a world of information overload. Something is always vying for my attention and time – e-mails, messages, phone calls or ads, ads and more ads. I limit screen time ruthlessly. I never had enough time until I recognized that time is my most valuable resource and I need to spend it carefully, on things that matter to me, on tasks that I enjoy, rather than mindless scrolling or doing things that don’t add value to my life.

My most productive hours are no longer controlled by another person or entity. I wrote about time in my last post as well but this topic means so much to me that I decided to devote another post to it. Finally, my time belongs to me, as it should.

The more I respect my time, the better life becomes. Life feels light, far easier and joyful. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. Has it been a long journey? Yes. Was it hard? Yes. Has it been worth it to get to this place? Yes, a million times over.

Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time. – Jim Rohn
